I said "if your time was worth anything". I never said it was....It took all of 2 minutes through their web site to lodge the complaint. Plus if my time is worth money then I'm not being paid enough around here!![]()
So it would seem that the performance bonus is off the table…..I said "if your time was worth anything". I never said it was....![]()
Keep track of your hours and claim it as charity work on your next tax return. So it would seem that the performance bonus is off the table…..![]()
Update from CRA. Nicely finger pointing and slightly cryptic.I did my taxes yesterday and for some stupid reason CRA charged me $2.35 for Interest.
MY balance in April last year was $0.00 after I got a refund. Today when I logged in to check my assessment it shows and additional charge for interest! Also the date is May 8th 2025!! It should be April 29th.
Am I in some alternate universe? LOL. I owe this year but it says I have until May 28th to pay! Is CRA screwed up again? I was wondering if I missed something. I checked my account transactions and there was no balance owing up till now.
Read fairly recently that after an audit of the CRA it was established that only 30% of taxpayers inquiries were answered correctly. And if you did something regarding your taxes that was later deemed to be incorrect and were assessed interest and or penalties , well that's just too bad for you. So don't be surprised by anything regarding the CRA . Just be happy it's $2.35 and not $23,500 . And yes there is the principle of the whole thing but......good luck with that.Update from CRA. Subject: Notice of objection for the tax year 2024
Dear MURRAY,
We received your online objection dated May 13, 2025.
Our review of your file shows you are objecting to an accounting issue. We cannot accept this as a valid objection because that issue is not considered part of the assessment of tax, penalty, and interest.
Since the objection you filed is invalid, we will close this case without further review by the Appeals Division.
If your intention is to make a request to the CRA that isn’t related to the Appeals Division, please visit canada.ca/en/services/taxes or call 1-800-959-8281 to get assistance in resolving your issue.

Ya, I never expected a refund. I was really just curious as to why it happened. I just finished doing my taxes and wil file tomorrow. Lets see how much interest they will owe me!Read fairly recently that after an audit of the CRA it was established that only 30% of taxpayers inquiries were answered correctly. They had owed me just under $19,000 for over 2 years due to them claiming I hadn't submitted a GST return which I definitely had done. It was from 4 years prior to them notifying me of this . Thing is that return which I resubmitted they eventually mysteriously located right about the same time. Jesus. The clincher though is that the money they owed me had absolutely nothing to do with that return. You would not believe the wasted hours and major frustration getting that sorted out. I was pleasantly surprised though that when they deposited the funds in my account they did pay interest on it . But no where close to the compounding interest they charge you if it's the other way around. Dicks.......Ya, I never expected a refund. I was really just curious as to why it happened.
