I noticed a few weeks ago that my card was full. The PDR was set to record over old files, but it didn't. It filled up and stopped recording. I'd get a message saying the card was full (or something like that).
Anyway, it's not a big deal. I wiped the card and it's worked well once again. I just thought I'd mention it. It might just be a 2020 thing.
Of course there is always an AI interpretation…..
The PDR (Performance Data Recorder) in the C8 Corvette can indeed be set to record continuously and automatically upon vehicle startup or when the car goes into accessory mode. There is a specific setting called “automatic recording” that enables the PDR system to start recording as soon as the car is started or put into accessory mode without needing to manually hit the record button each time.
Additionally, you can enable settings such as “allow recording overwrite,” which lets the system overwrite older recordings when the SD card is full, ensuring continuous loop recording without stopping.
This setup effectively turns the PDR into a dash-cam-like system that records continuously and automatically with each vehicle startup, capturing both video and audio if enabled.
So yes, the C8 Corvette’s PDR can be set for continuous automatic recording on startup
The ability to set the PDR (Performance Data Recorder) in the C8 Corvette to record continuously and automatically on vehicle startup applies to all C8 model years that come equipped with the PDR system. This feature is available at least from the early model years of the C8 Corvette (including 2021 and onward) that have the PDR option.
Owners of various C8 models, including the Z51 trim and others equipped with PDR, have confirmed that you can enable automatic recording upon startup, allowing the system to start recording video and audio without manual intervention every time the vehicle is started or placed in accessory mode.
To summarize:
• The system automatically records video/audio on startup when enabled in settings.
• Overwrite settings can be enabled to continuously record in a loop.
• This functionality is standard with PDR across all C8 model years that have this option, including early versions like the 2021 model.
So yes, this automatic continuous recording on startup is a feature consistent across all C8 Corvette model years equipped with the PDR.
