Recently purchased a C6 2005 base model. Everybody with an opinion on the car's stereo is correct. They suck, big time! Now, I have a good idea on what to replace it with. But, I'm hearing stories of some of the onboard electronics not working after an aftermarket installation. Is there anyone out there who can shed some light on the problem?

I didn't replace the stereo on my C5 or C7...but did last year on my 2016 Subaru - went with a Pioneer unit that is superior to the factory one. An optional wiring harness allowed all the factory controls on the steering wheel to function normally. If you check Crutchfield's website and enter your year/model of car it'll come back with all potential units. I wanted to have it professionally installed so checked around at local shops who wound up matching Crutchfield's price.
