Porsches have back seats must be terrible cars with that mindset…..
Don’t really understand that logic…….Porsche make some very fine automobiles. I simply wanted a mid engine two seat sports car. And when I first saw the C8 I knew that was the one. If I could afford it I would probably have a 911 as well, but alas….

Otherwise I'd have hung on to my $13,000 2000 Camaro SS. WIth heads and cam making 485 HP. Front engine sports cars are a dime a dozen.

In reality would you have actually bought a mid engine sports car if it wasn't as cheap as a Corvette? Would you have bought a Lamborghini, Ferrari, etc. Probably not. There's difference between Corvette "fanboys" and car enthusiasts. Probably why boomers have always been tied to Corvettes since the beginning of production. They will pay 240K for a spec'd out Z06, but wont consider a Lamborghini Hurcan for 280k.

Your original comment gave the impression that cars with back seats are inferior to cars without back seats. 911 prices have gone up recently due to the tarrif situation but before a loaded Stingray was in around the same price of a Carrera. Their is also the used market too. Dealers are selling 1 year old C8's 20k below MSRP meaning they were traded in 25-30k below. You would never see that type of loss with a standard 911 Carerra.
 
Its true tho. I have had my fair share of experience with Corvettes. Selling them and meeting owners. I can actually provide a non bias feedback and just cause this is a Corvette forum there just doesn't need to be people supporting corvettes there are ups and downs to all vehicles. I can literally hop on the Lamborghini forum I am on and people will frown upon the Corvettes and you will have Corvette owners there stand up for their car. Goes both ways in a forum.

there are 2 ways of measuring a sports/super/exotic car: measurable performance and the "fun to drive" factor which are not the same.

the mid engine C8 is more fun to drive than a BMW M4 or a 911 and matches if not beats them in the measurable real life performance department.

the base C8 is so good, it makes e-ray, z06 and zr1 feel like "tuning" out of "price bracket"
 
You said C8. A C8 starts at $91K. An R8 starts at $60K more.
I had a 4th gen Camaro with more HP than a C5 Z06. However, it is not a mid engine sports car.
Bang for the buck the C8 is still better than any other MID engine sports car!
Actually I said C8 Z06, and decent equipped 3LZ is over $200 and brings other sports cars into play...

You brought up mid engine and value for buck...I'd take a R8 over a $200k Z06

Chevrolet is missing the boat. The price increases that they are done every year since the introduction of the C8 has brought so many other cars into play.

Not sure if I can take your reply serious as you practically bought the same vehicle in 2021 and 2024 with virtually no changes. Your comment is what every C8 owner tries to say "c8 is best bargain exotic car", "z06 is a super car", "practically a Ferrari for a fraction of the price", etc. Comments to ultimately make them feel good about the car they own and their purchase decision. This is not a direct insult or comment to you but in reality when a person cant really buy that Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, etc their opinion no longer has validation and is bias. Bias exists here when people can't really afford the alternative nor have experienced it can they really say x is better than y? No

Its the same when people say "Whats the point of buying a Ferrari/Lamborghini I could just buy a mustang and modify it will perform just as good if not faster than those. What a waste of money", but then when they actually drive a Ferrari or Lamborghini they change their mindset to "I get it now why people buy these cars".

Most C8 owners are either buying one primarily due to price or have literally not looked or tried alternatives. However most are literally older age folks (aka the new balance and trouser shorts guys) who have previously owned Corvettes or are diehard American fanboys. When they came out in 2020 sure there a huge buzz just like any car but as time progressed and they went from 70-90k things change. Also alternatives came out like the newer gen Porsches, Lotus Emira, BMW M4, etc. Same goes for the Z06, but once a new one creeped upwards of 200K + Luxury Tax there are definately other used cars people can consider and tons of used options. People don't also consider you may pay less for a Corvette new compared to alternatives but it come bite you back once it comes time to sell it and a year later the trade in is worth 30k under sticker for a Stingray and over 70k under sticker on high spec Z06's. This is just in relation to MSRP, you will lose what you paid in provincial taxes and luxury taxes so a Z06 can easily creep up to 100k+ loss on a dealer trade in just a year.

No you got offended cause someone provided an alternative vehicle to a thread and didn’t say Corvette was best bang for your buck or best mid engine supercar! The ironic thing is the Stingray is going in the direction to literally be the new mustang

It’s not being sour it’s general reality of a vehicle going into its 7th year of production. There are ups and downs to all vehicles, but this is ultimately a Corvette forum so you won’t find people get into the negatives of the car. When people do you will just often get backlash which I personally doeent bother me and will respond accordingly. Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Mustang, etc are all bad words to not be brought up. Point of a forum is discussion but if people don’t like opposing opinions then what’s the point? What are people wanting validity of there purchase decision or keep reading comments/posts to how great a single vehicle or platform is?

For some people truth hurts just take it with a grain of salt then and move on.

I grew up in a Mustang family. GT 350 Fastback with a folding rear seat for my sister and I to drive 32 hours non stop to Calgary in thanks to my parents. When I started buying my own cars, I never considered Mustang. Fast forward to my 2020 C8. When I got it, I would go weeks and not see another C8. Every time I went for a drive people would be taking pictures of the car. Now I see them more frequently but not every day still. Regardless of price, Mustang, BMW and the 911 never did anything for me and I would never buy one. Over the years, I have preferred the styling of my cars over those three. I don't care what plans they have for the future or what the cost is. I guess that's why I put my deposit down for a C9 three years ago to continue my four decade run of owning Corvettes. I'm always able to hold my own when I come up against any of these other cars and rarely come up against them at the track. Corvette Racing continues to de-tune the cars with balance of performance penalties since the C5R so the competition could keep up and many of them have left over the years. The Corvette demographic has changed with the C8 and become much younger and the car has outsold the next 3 competitors combined year after year which is the goal of the company to outsell the competition and keep the price down.
I believe people buy the current Corvette due to style, performance and value. The higher end models are more suited for track use that 99% of people don't go to or drive their cars up to the capability of the car.
There are people out there on other forums that feel the exact opposite of me and that's fine. I'm sure we have lost some members to other cars but
Corvette will never lose me (for the next 3 generations of the car hopefully)!

Well said. I was going to comment that I have yet to hear any C8 owner complain about anything of significance regarding their choice and experience with their vehicle. So I thought I would take a look and see if I could find some data regarding this observation and found this…..speaks for itself.

This is sort of what I was mentioning. Most Corvette owners come from deep American routes so won't really ever consider anything non American. Look at your self 40 years of owning Corvettes and I would be safe to assume your over 55?

I dont believe that the C8 has brought a more younger crowd to the platform. If you go to most Cars and Coffee or events with C8s they're typically owned by older guys bringing there own lawn chair or their own 1/1 production plaque. Sorry just had to throw a jab in. Of course now being in to the 7th year of production there are now cheap used ones available so its more obtainable for younger guys and in the past couple years the 0% finance rates help. I find the huge thing that may have pushed the sales for C8 was the removal of the Camaro, Charger, and Challenger.

Which 3 competitors combined are you referring too that the C8 has outsold? I'm not sure you can still say GM kept prices down especially from where they started from to now. In the USA prices have stayed more consistent probably till the 2026 model year.
