My truck is a manual and have the foot switch and it's no problem AT ALL. You don't use it in trafic but mainly on hyway in the top gear.Doesn't work well with a clutch pedal.
I did. It was a problem. There are times you need to do both. It's much easier with a hand as your fingers can work both the paddles and the stalk.Clutch pedals though are few and far between these days unfortunately. I have driven three pedal cars before with the foot switch but don’t clearly recall if there was any problem.

If you live in Quebec, did you not get that knob on the floor, frozen hard because of snow deposit, that had melted and covered it with ice!?There is NO MORE manual cars anyway ! They were (are) old tech and jammed often. I don't know how old you are, but the 60's cars had all kinds of issues with those switches. I drove dozens of 60's and 70's cars. High current ran through the relays and as such were prone to arcing and sticking as a result.They're usually high enough to stay clean. And I also don't let a lot of snow in my vehicles.

What applies to a relay applies to a switch. Maintenance! LOL! You don't maintain a switch on the floor until it no longer works!I drove and owned A LOT of 60's and 70's cars, I also repaired them. Most had no relays on this circuit. My actual truck is a 1989 and the switch is still smooth as butter. Yes some got very rusty and hard to operate but it was mainly due to improper maintenance. Replacing them was SO EASY, 2 or 3 screws and a 3 prungs connector. Personnaly I prefer that foot switch but everybody has their own preference.
What I don't like about the stalk type is that I have to move my hand to it and they operate differently from a car to another.
In my truck my foot stay there all the time on hyway and just clic on it. Simple and easy.

You like them, I didn't.
I've never had to remove my hand from the steering wheel on any car I've owned. I extend my fingers or now push the stock with the fingers.
So let's just leave it there. You want it back on the floor and I don't.
