2016 Price increase??

I was originally talking about price protection but I used the issue of the paint price to highlight the lack of customer service with the customer service department. It wasn't an issue of pricing that did not get picked up it was a paint color that was a standard no charge option on the GM website and then showed up on my build invoice as a special order color that was now $500 extra. The day after I ordered my car the GM website still stated that this color was a standard no surcharge color, I checked a month later and it still was the same on the GM website. I contacted customer service the day after my order was placed and spoke to them on several occasions and got nowhere.

It was never a standard no charge option. Canada was simply not as proficient as the US in pricing updates because of the constant changing exchange rates. When you ordered it, did you believe this was a standard or premium paint? All premium paints were listed when you ordered.

This is not a case of bad customer service the way you have it painted, but rather, a customer believing he got one over on the dealer and then complaining when he never. The dealer, nor GM Canada, can deduct prices from that final invoice. Of course the dealer isn't going to pay for your paint from their profit!

You are a prime candidate for the dealer not allowing any price protection...because he can do that and who would blame him? Why would you ruin your Corvette experience over something that is such common sense? You really never expected to pay premium for premium paint? It is blade silver METALLIC is it not?

All flash I don't want to get into it with you, all I am saying is that it was not clearly communicated, whether that was due to Canada not updating pricing in a timely fashion or whatever, that's not my concern as a paying customer. How was I supposed to know that ?
I did not try or think I was putting one over on the dealer as you suggest and then got upset when I didn't. This could not be further from the truth. If this was originally listed on the GM website as a premium color then I would have had no issue, all I was doing was attempting to shed light on this inconsistency. I hope that my efforts helped GM Canada to expedite the update so as to not cause confusion to other customers.
Thanks for your input, I never meant to create any animosity. I would appreciate if we can call a truce on this and I will deal with my issues in private in the future.

Midnight, I really hope that you can come to some resolution with this issue. Hard to spend all that money and not feel comfortable with the transaction. Having read many threads on the trials and tribulations of buyers working with dealers and GM one has to wonder why it is so complicated and in some cases unpleasant.

I agree that you need to have a face to face meeting with them to hash things out. You will get it resolved.

Thanks Black, I've put this behind me, if I don't get price protection I will not let it ruin my day, all I want is my car as soon as they can get it to me.

So I write as I feel regardless... So when you come back to price protection, I would still follow the steps I have provided...I would be very polite to the dealer, even maybe explaining how excited you are. I would then carefully approach the price protection issue, however until he lays out the details in front of you, I wouldn't panic too much...we all do though.

If he sells Corvettes, he understands that price protection is necessary in Canada as there are still so few imports, ant time to delivery is long compared to the US. When it comes to the paint premium, understand though that he gets no break....so he pays or you.

Thanks for the advice re price protection.
One thing that still puzzles me is that as of this evening on the " build and price your vette" tool on the GM Canada and GM USA websites the Blade Silver color is still listed as a no charge option. Most customers like myself use this tool prior to ordering their car only to find out that what they assumed was a standard option they are now being charged for. If it is a chargeable option then GM should reflect that in the build and price tool to avoid issues with future customers. I don't think that any of us mind paying for something that was clearly communicated upfront.
Again, thanks for the tips on how to approach the dealer on the price protection.
Take care

I received my order number back in October 2015, my sales manager is telling me I don't have price protection for my 2016 Z51. This is contrary to some of the posts I have read here. Can someone clarify the GM policy on this or if there even is one. Thanks

If you have an order # from the GM GlobalConnect and it says Order Type Retail Sold and your name on it, the MSRP that is on that order will be protected. If all you have is the standard dealer contract, and no order number or doesn't say Retail Sold, your at the mercy of the dealer if they can work something out. There are some dealers out there that will not tell the customer of this and keep the extra margin if they can.

M Cruiser. At the end of the day you will have a gorgeous car regardless of the misunderstandings or whatever they were. As you said, your excitement level is peaking and the paint cost or price protection glitches are not a deal breaker for you owning your new C7.

And just to let you know, no need to deal with your issues in private. We are all owners.... we all have Corvette issues or questions in one sense or another and to be able to discuss them is why we joined this forum. After all, it's talking about issues, whatever they may be, and drawing from the knowledge on the site, that is both informative and has been and will be helpful to all of us at one time or another.
