1980 corvette has play in steering wheel ,drifting left and right while driving can anyone give advice on problem ,just bought car

Could be a few things, I’d start at looking at the rag joint (https://www.summitracing.com/search...oints/year/1980/make/chevrolet/model/corvette

Others include : 1) checking alignment, 2) worn or damaged suspension components, such as tie rods, ball joints, or bushings, 3) worn steering box. Is it leaking ps fluid? (Sorry double post). Where in NS aware you located, my wife’s family is from Antigonish area.

Jack up the front end (both sides) and start with grabbing the wheels and seeing if there's movement in the wheel bearings and/or ball joints. Have someone watching the rest of the front end and see if they can see play in the rest of the steering components.

How old are the tires? Original wheels or aftermarket & size?
