Battery starts the car but the alternator recharges the battery. Wiring between alternator and battery? Have the alternator checked?

This may sound bizarre but I’m just putting it out there. Is it possible that there’s some gunk of sorts that continues to stick?. Perhaps some carb cleaner to get rid of the gunk then the WD?

Thank you all for the great advise. I just installed it and first to second is so much smoother. The 1st to 4th light still shows on the dash though. Is there anyway to fix that or should I just ignore it?

Would someone please advise me about wind screens. Do they reduce the noise enough to counteract the expense? Are the glass ones that much better than the mesh ones, or the leather ones that go between the seats and attach on the headrests?
