It looks like a very well made piece Graham. I guess when you replace steering parts that is always a good thing.
C3 Steering Box Removal..

OK..it's in!!!
The new Flaming River universal is installed, the steering box is back in..
I had to drop the column and pull it back enough to get the U-joint in place.
Getting the steering box bolts loosened/tightened was tough with the headers in the car.
I just have to tighten a couple of ball joints yet, and put the alternator back in.
( How do you stop the ball-joint from turning when tightening the nut??)
I hope this fixes my steering slop issue.

While the box is off the frame look for cracking where the box bolts on and where the steering cylinder anchor bolts on. Mine cracked there.

The box is back in-place already.
I forgot to inspect closely but I did clean and repaint that area while the box was out and didn't notice anything.
You are correct...I should have taken the opportunity to check it closer.
