All New ...But Too High?
I had the crossover spring in the back of my '78 replace and heard a ticking noise...it was a universal joint caused by the extra height. I removed 1 small leaf and all was good. If the car hasn't been driven much ....give the springs time to settle..especially the rear where some quick... -
Adding side exhaust
I had to modify my A/C compressor bracket...and when I inquired about replacing my headers ...they asked me to bring the old ones in so they could match with the new. So far the old are holding out. PS been to Cranbrook when I worked with Ducks Unlimited -

Adding side exhaust
Back in '73 ,I helped a buddy covert lakes pipes to rear exhaust...too noisey for his 69 roaster. We had to buy rocker panels after the pipes came off. It wasn't a big job. Recommend..forget side pipes and put on headers...my '78 has had same pair for over 20 years. -
slow headlight problem
No slam ups ,but a delay...ended up lube spraying all connections that move or rotate. -
Air Cond'g recharge
Thanks FIRE already using 134...A/C guy used 2X dye and thinks he found the problem. Time will tell and I'll find out the problem. -

Replaced the condenser 3 years ago.....$350 from Ecklers. That year A/C was cold, next year recharge lasted 1 month but port was leaking..reset vave and recharged. last year recharge lasted 6 weeks...no leaks according to pressure test and dye. Will try again soon for this year. I suspect... -

I talked to Red Tek and they have R12 TO 134 ADAPTOR IN THEIR kit but it attaches to the low port only..same as what my mechanic does now. My mech. strongly advised NOT to use pro seal as it would clog everything. He says recharge each year or put ur windows down...seems that was mentioned before. -

Apparently an adaptor is required to recharge the air from the top valve. Currently my mechanic recharges from the bottom. He changed system from R12 to R134. I checked with Ecklers ..no luck. Apparently I lost each seasons charge thru the condenser which has different metals(AL & steel) Any... -

Check the "tire" thread 4 good info on rubber...I just installed BF goodrich TAs on my '78..((car runs better than with the eagles (only3000 mi.,but 17 yrs old)) they are made by michelin -

Decided to check tire pressure....very confusing on internet. Door decal says 220 rear ,or 32psi...... 195 front or 28 psi unloaded(?) 26 rear 20 front service manual states...increase pressure 4 psi when driving over 75 mph .. but doesn't spec pressure 32/28 seems reasonable...until I hear... -
