Thoughts on inverted down pipes ?

Hey guys
Anyone have an opinion on what I did to my '84 on the weekend.. inverted down pipe tips to fit on stock tailpipes

Thanks ..that's what I was trying to do, get away from the exhausts of today- all the same , straight out the back

OK then. My opinion is the pipes end up too far from the body. Kinda just hanging down all by themselves. Not my car though. Do what you like.

Thanks..I think I may even cut them down by 2" to have the tips just visible from the rear, much better appearance from the side that way

That would be even better imo, but it's whatever you like in the end.

I have two local C4 Corvette guys that show up at cruise nights with tips that come out from under the bumper and then point UP at 45 degrees!!
There must have been a ‘tip’ Sale somewhere because they do not know each other but did the same thing!!

Well ..My OCD got the best of me , so after 2 hours in the garage and cutting, grinding and welding I am happy with the end result ... Exactly what I was looking for

my turn !!! , I like them turned down . Otherwise they look like something Volkswagon beetle would do ( sorry ! ) from the back it just looks like 4 round holes. Back in early 70's on my 58 and 67 Impala SS 396 I made "Y" 's for the tailpipes straight out the back and put flared end chrome tips on, the bell tips made the pipes look bigger from the back. I think Trans Am copied me later ( ha ha ) as they made the dual outlet pointing down. In the 58 I even painted the inside of the pipe body color ( kinda robin egg turquois ) and with the chrome outside of the tip it actually looked OK on the 58 and they stayed clean a long time before I repainted them. My Crossfire has them turned down.
