Did anybody else get a TAG system, installed on his C8? I know I will , after having waited about 30 months , when it gets delivered. 30 if I get my allocation in June! Imagine if I got my Vette stolen, after waiting this long to get one.:Banghead: Also, anybody try this ceramic wax? Is it worth it? Thank you for your response.:Cheers2:

Which ceramic wax?
I've used Armour All ceramic car wash on our Malibu with nice success.
It wears off, but if you continue washing with it it works well.
A lot of people do ceramic themselves and seem have good luck with it.

I am not sure which to buy , myself. I use Mothers Carnauba wax for now. It s a paste easily wiped on and very little buffing. Sometimes I use spray on wax , like before drying or wipe on after drying. My cars always look great and very little chips , when I sell. I was curious about all these ceramic waxes I have been hearing about and this treatment that some dealers do for a whole bunch of money.

I haven't used a wax in 30 years! Waxes are yellow and yellow even more over time.
I used to use Zaino which is an amazing product. Others have polishes that don't contain waxes. If you want to, I'd use one of those, but I'd really recommend a ceramic polish. I had my Stingray ceramic coated by an expert, but, like I said, many have done it themselves.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I will buy ceramic polish.

Doesn’t the car come with onstar? Onstar should be able to track the car. With regards to ceramic coating, go for it and PPF. I plan on doing this for every new car moving forward.

I'm not sure OnStar will track your car without the cops asking them to. If mine is ever stolen I'll tell OnStar I'll pay for the 2 years I missed and then get the cops to ask for tracking and shut down of the car.

I have OnStar and I can use the app to locate my C8 any time. Whether that can be disabled by a thief, I don’t know.

The ceramic wax helps with the looks but does not protect against rock chips. For that you would need PPF. I went with PPF on the front and use a ceramic wax spray which I apply once or twice a year. Works very well.

Is Onstar good for all of the time you own the car?

Thank you

I have been told a pro car thief can deactivate Onstar in 10 seconds.
It is just an electrical connection that can be hacked if you know how.
It would seem a well hidden private GPS tracker might be the way to go, the one
on my ZO6 has a lithium battery and no connection to the electrical system, thus
it is always on and activated.
A remote kill switch with a tracker would be ideal.

As long as you pay through the nose for it! lol
It’s not that expensive (I guess) and they always have some sort of special. I only have it on from May to October, and the suspend it for the winter months when the car is in storage.

TAG, if installed by the dealer , you pay for the tracer and installation and it is guaranteed for 7 years and service is free. The system still works after 7 years , and it can be transferred , if you sell.

On Breaking Bad they had a tracker in the gas cap. I wonder if that’s a real thing. Oh wait, the C8 doesn’t have a gas cap!

To get simple roadside services it costs $360 per year per car. $720 for 2 cars! (Edit: PLUS TAX)
For CAA it's around $235 per year for 2 cars! (Edit: WITH TAX)
FYI a friend of mine works for the Yorkies and he told me that no Corvette has been stolen in Ontario in the last (I think he said) ten years.
