Serial Gateway Module

Funny, that happened to me years ago. An update didn't shut off my car and it ran for hours. Luckily I checked the car and stopped the update.
What occurred that the update didn’t shut off your car ? Please explain a bit more. Thanks. :readread:

The display stayed on as did the radio. If I recall correctly I started the car and then shut it off. I can't remember if I then delayed the update or it wasn't offered again immediately.

Sorry, my misunderstanding. I thought you meant that for some reason the engine was running which is what confused me. Not that it takes much….

Updates aren't offered until they are downloaded. I must assume they have a checksum so the download should not be corrupted. Usually the updates are offered when you shut off the car. (or is it when you put it in park?) Anyway, the update won't happen until you confirm you want it and the car is shut off. This is when the update screws up and leaves the radio and display on. I now always go back in an hour to make sure it succeeded. If I ever get another update that is. lol

I wonder if the update data eats into the 72 GB’s that come with a new unit and if it would make a difference if the vehicle was connected to your house wifi. Then again wifi use would probably deduct from the 72 GB as well. If I weren’t so lazy I’d dig through the owner manual. I have had a couple of updates happen without any prompting to approve them. Google ones if I recall.

I just had a software update, dealer performed, while I was in for LOF and the seatbelt retractor recall.
It was Serial Gateway Module N242476670.
No idea what it's for, they never tell you, but it may be the final OTA update problem fix as part 3 of 3 from last year.

Here it is .
The GM Customer Satisfaction Program N242476670 addresses an issue with the Serial Data Gateway Module (SDGM) in 2024-2025 Chevrolet Corvette models. The problem involves a risk of battery drain following an over-the-air (OTA) software update. To fix this, dealers are instructed to reprogram the Serial Data Gateway Module at no charge to the customer until April 30, 2027.
Key points about N242476670:
• Applies to 2024 and 2025 Corvette models.
• The issue is battery drain caused by the SDGM software after OTA updates.
• The repair involves reprogramming the SDGM; no parts replacement is required.
• Dealers must check vehicle VINs for eligibility and perform the update before delivery.
• The program is active until April 30, 2027.
• Some owners have reported issues like check engine lights or codes after the update, requiring further dealer diagnostics.
Additionally, a related service update (N242470190) concerns certain 2024 Corvette units with an incompatible SDGM that requires module replacement rather than just reprogramming. This affects only some 2024 models and is separate from the reprogramming campaign.
In summary, N242476670 is a dealer-performed software reprogramming campaign for the Serial Data Gateway Module to prevent battery drain in 2024-2025 Corvettes, covered under GM’s Customer Satisfaction Program.

Had mine in yesterday for the new replacement seat beat re-tractor recall and they also did this new software update recall that did not show on my GM recall page on the weekend when I last looked.
All done, took two hours for everything to be completed.

My daughter complained that they did not change the seat belt colour. :Stop:
