It’s been asked before but maybe some have realized they now like one over the other. Personally I have always found that driving in manual mode is much more engaging although not the best for MPG . Couldn’t really care less about that. Except for cruising on the highway for long distances with cruise control it’s manual every time. And how do you have the various driving modes configured ? Using manual mode also eliminates the cylinder deactivation mode which causes throttle lag . May have to get the Soler throttle controller……thanks !

Sorry 1st, while I do agree that driving a manual is much more engaging, I don't quite understand your queries. I just push down the clutch lever, select 1st gear and proceed to shift manually using the gear shift lever. (LOL)

My Mode so that the exhaust flaps are always open, even start up. EFF the neighbours lol. Manual shifting. Funny you post this today. Yesterday I hit D accidentally. Car was in 3rd gear at 24 km/h. Annoying and embarrassing sounding. I usually don't shift into 2nd until 40 lol...

Well in all fairness I did post this in the C8 forum…… ;)

I hear you. I don’t like to let the engine lug below about 2,000 rpm most of the time…and My Mode as well, engine setting in track everything else in sport . Did you get a chance to install the Soler yet ? I’m going to order one soon.
I can't stand the way the C8 automatically downshifts in manual so I don't bother using it much.
Simply downshift manually at a bit higher rpm . The system will downshift even in manual if you don’t to prevent the rpm from getting too low and
having the engine “ lug “ . Easy peasy.

So you downshift early. :p
I guess that depends on what you consider early. I usually downshift at just under 2,000 or so. You also get some engine braking and a nice burble from the exhaust if you have the valves open which I do all the time plus it tends to make you more attentive to your driving I find. You can display a tach in the HUD as well if you don’t go by engine sound because of hearing limitations or tunes cranked up. But of course to each their own. Long distance on the highway though it’s Tour mode and Cruise Control.

With my Camaro I'd let it get to almost idle rpm before downshifting. The C8 downshifts before that. Not sure what rpm, but it does it before I want it to. I shifted by sound. Plus it upshifts a lot faster and at the right time in auto. So it's a tradeoff. Manual in the C8 just doesn't do it for me the way a stick car does. Don't get me wrong. I love the C8, but I'll accept it the way it is. It's better in auto IMHO.

If only we had three pedals…. Alas it’s what we got.

I don't need a third pedal. Just a stick. ;)
When the clutch pedal broke in my Duster, I drove it without the clutch. Stop at lights I'd pull it out of gear, coast to the light. Turn off the car. Stick it in first and use the starter motor to get me going. Then shift by rev matching. Yes, I went through a lot of starter motors, but not for that reason. That's a totally other story. LOL.
... and yes I had to get a friend to weld the pedal back together.

Lately .... I've been driving in Z mode with mid steering ... mid braking .... full on exhaust and full on engine shift .... it's a wild ride and the car never goes into V4 mode ......... ;)

Yes Dave.... appears we aren't permitted to discuss a clutch and true manual shifting here .....
