Did you remove the liner and paint on to the hood itself?

No the paint is on the liner itself , removed the liner from car which is very easy but just have to be careful not to snag the liner , use a plastic trim tool to get securely under tabs and pop out, also remove the screws holding the vent piece in and then good to start the “project”.
