Well guys and girls. Have had some requests for pictures and review on my recent BC coast fishing trip. My hunting and fishing buddy booked this trip 18 months in advance as this lodge books up really fast. We met Walter and Jean (Blondie) at the Red Deer Sportsman show and after talking to them and some of their previous gueasts, I was hooked (pun intended).
I have been on many inland fishing trips and on the coast several times before in some very good all-inclusive lodges, but this trip, the lodge, the owners and staff, and the fishing outperformed any previous trip. We felt after 5 minutes that we were part of their family, including the other 10 guests. Their boats and equipment are second to none, and the expertise of every guide is amazing. I won't go on too much other than to say to anyone planning a salt water excursion, that Quatsino Lodge on the Northwestern end of Vancouver Island is by far second to none in their industry. An easy flight to Comox, a three and a half hour drive to Port Hardy and then 15 minutes inland to Coal Harbour where we were picked up in Walter's 700 hp fishing boat named the Sea Pig. Twenty minutes west down an ocean fjord brought us to a sheltered cove housing Quatsino Lodge and we were on the water fishing by noon. Here are just a few teaser pictures but suffice to say that by the last day, we were just having fun as the fishing was soooooooo good. The salmon in this area are some of the strongest fighters I have ever caught, and the cod, halibut and rock fish (so yummy too) are plentiful and willing.

Beautiful spot Eric. Some great fish you hauled in. Congratulations.

Glad you guys had a good time, post more pics if you have them.

lol.... I have probably 200 pictures Murray. Might get banned if I plug up the forum.... The fellow to the right of Larry was Walter. The owner and our guide. The eagle giving me the evil look is a young bald eagle. They don't get their full colours until about 3 years old. The fish that will try to eat you is an ocean Ling Cod. You learn right away not to reach in with your fingers to get the hook out... lol... The fish on the deck were mainly rock fish to fill our quota of what fillets and species we wanted to bring home. A couple of chinook salmon, halibut, ling cod, black bass, china fish, copper fish, sole, and the ugly bug-eyed orange fish that resembles the late Marty Feldman is a vermillian...

Good grief it does look like Marty.
lol.... here's a close up of Larry holding a vermillian. They look a lot like a yelloweye (red snapper) and they taste every bit as good, if not better. There's a moratorium on Red snapper this year on the coast which is a bit of a shame as they typically die from the bends when they are brought to the surface and released. Felt bad everytime I released one. Part of the food chain for the gulls, eagles and whatevers though.
