Override pulldown switch

Hi there, recently purchased a 79 corvette, started interior strip down and come acrooss a button/knob below steering wheel. What is this for? I searched and came up with override pulldown switch? What is this for for?

Gdh is correct..../ most likely.
Are there two switches there?
(1) One is a vacuum switch..It allows you to raise the headlamps without turning them on... simply pull down.
If you have a leak in the vacuum system this may not work unless the car is running.

(2) The other knob there is for resetting the trip odometer.. You pull down and turn to reset to zero.




Can you send a picture..?
I have a '75 and it has two knobs., There is a possibility your '79 Corvette has the odometer reset in the dash..?
