Ordering my 1st Corvette from Brian Cullen (couple of questions)

Hello everyone, my name is Denis, and I just joined. I have been keeping an eye on the C8 news and forums ever since it was released. Today I am ready to put my deposit for a 2021 2LT, Red on Red, hard top convertible with performance exhaust. I am located in Niagara Region, and plan to buy from Brian Cullen dealership as they are one of the 3 dealers that get the most allocations.

Now i know this dealer is on the list of "they sell for MSRP", but my question is: what other dealer fees should I expect and what is considered reasonable?

I am also aware that I might not see the car until next spring/summer and I am fine with that.

Thanks in advance for your answers

Freight PDI AS PER GM price list, $100 AC tax, HST, Ont. Tire tax approx $20 OMVIC fee approx. $10 and $500 Admin fee - for the privilege of making a bill of sale for you and a trip to the Lic. Bureau to register. Refuse anything more.

I know of one Alberta dealer who throws into the deal a new car cover and hopefully you'll receive a similar "perk" with your purchase. I'm still waiting for my C8 HTC but in discussions with my dealer on the extended warranty (maximum time available and 100,000 km), I was told that "so far" the best they could do was a $500 reduction. I asked on the Forum what others were getting for an extended warranty price reduction but received no replies. I usually get more off, with a new car purchase. But as Gilles27 indicated, the dealers aren't moving much for the C8's due to demand. Consider posting a picture of your new ride once you have it, good luck and welcome to the Forum!

Their dealer fees are very reasonable.
Buying from a large volume dealer won't necessarily get you a C8 any faster.
I am still waiting for mine while others from smaller dealerships have received theirs with less of a wait.
Anyway, They have been good for me so far.

I'm with Tracy at Cullen. Let me know if you have any questions.
A/C t ax $2000
OMVIC Fee $100
Tire stewardship Fee $10
Admin Fees $249
GMPP 84 months 60,000 KMS $3091.00
Ceramic including wheels $2099.00
Fuel $100.00
I brought him my own plates so transfer is $32.00

Welcome to the forum. Strange no one has mentioned the 22% Corvette Tax.

Long wait but it sounds like you are prepared for that.

Denis l ordered a Vette from Cullen last Oct for MSRP and the delivery cost of $2000 .l found the sales person Tracy to be a very honest and knowlegable person who always calls you back ang makes you feel welcome any time you pop in for a visit .lam not swooning but l have met a lot of lowlifes in the Car business but Tracy has been selling Corvettes for 25 plus years as l have also put down money for a 2025 Zora also with him.Enjoy your new ride.

I have a C8 on order at Brian Cullens from July of 2019, I dealt with Jeff Easton and they originally tacked on the 100 dollars for fuel absolutely ridiculous and after I wrote to the sales manager they removed the 100 dollar fee for fuel and rightfully so. Any new vehicle that I have ever purchased I paid 0 dollars for fuel and none of them were 100000 dollar vehicles. So Jeff's commission will be minus 100 dollars. This is as good of a deal as they would give me as they would not lower the admin fee, what is the customer getting for the admin fee? absolutely nothing other than the dealer making out an invoice.

I hear you, but have you seen what it takes to do the delivery of a C8? They have several things to install.

So is that before HST or after?

For the "luxury car tax" in British Columbia, people there are already paying a hefty tax which is might be more than the percentage "larryd" indicated above, since it depends upon the cost of the vehicle. To quote from a May 10, 2019 "Automotive NewsCanada" article (written by Dan Heyman in Vancouver):

On April 1, 2018, B.C.’s NDP government raised the provincial sales tax to 15 per cent from 10 on new and used vehicles priced between $125,000 and $149,999. On vehicles $150,000 and over, the tax increased to 20 per cent from 10. There’s also the five-per-cent federal GST, bringing the total tax bill on a $150,000 car to $37,500, a full 25 per cent. The increase also applied to leased vehicles, including customers already in a contract.

You'll find the full article here:

So you're hit with an additional tax in BC when you buy a vehicle priced between $125,000-$149,999 (15%) then for any vehicle costing $150,000 or more, it's 20% (wow!). And from the above quote, I gather the luxury sales tax is likely calculated on the base price and before any other taxes are factored into the calculation, so the extra tax is likely NOT calculated on a price which includes HST. But right now this is unknown, since the Feds haven't introduced the vehicle tax nor given any details that I could find about how the tax would work. But I'd hope even the Feds wouldn't impose a tax on a tax...

If you want to be safe, order a car that works out to less than $100,000 in total, inclusive of any Provincial taxes, if that's possible. Another idea that might help, would be to have all dealer installed options separately invoiced, to reduce the over-all invoiced price on the vehicle, since these dealer installed options are add-ons that anyone can purchase after the initial vehicle sale.

But be thankful if you're not a BC resident, already facing these taxes. If the Feds tack on another 10%, the BC luxury car dealers are warning their business will really suffer, due to the high BC taxes already imposed on these purchases, as mentioned in this October 2019 article:

So perhaps this is incentive to buy an expensive vehicle before the Feds bring in that tax. With all the COVID spending that's been happening at the Federal and Provincial levels, I suspect luxury vehicle taxes will be popular with governments, since not too many people will be sympathetic to those complaining about extra tax who want to spend $100K+ on a vehicle.

Oh and if you're in BC and hope to avoid paying their luxury vehicle taxes by purchasing a used vehicle privately, think again since the extra taxes apply to private sales as well. All other Provinces except Alberta impose some form of tax on private vehicle sales. You'll see this in this November 2019 article which gives a nice comparison to what the different Provinces currently do:
