New Year Eve is an interesting night. So many people like to go out and enjoy the crowds, restaurants and planned festivities. Others just like to stay home for a quite evening and just relax. It is a great night to do whatever you want.

We held New Years Eve last year for our neighbours and it was a really nice night. This year one of our neighbours is having an "LCBO" party. The Liquor Control Board of Ontario puts out a magazine called LCBO Food and Drink, it is full of ads for liquor but also some great recipes and wine pairings. So everyone picks a recipe and they make it from the magazine. The appetizers and meal consists some very different food but it seems to work very well. There are 14 of us going for dinner and the beauty is we can walk.

So what are you folks up to?

Whatever you do enjoy yourselves, travel safe and all the best for a very Happy New Year.

Thanks to Nik, the Moderators and all the contributors for keeping this such an entertaining place. :Cheers2:

Hey Murray. You are so right. New Year's Eve is celebrated a lot of different ways. We use to go out every year. Not so much to the crowded venues but usually smaller house get togethers much like you are headed to. For the last several years we have been taking it easy and staying home, having a few cocktails and trying our best to stay awake until midnight. We had a little party in my man cave last night with my brother in law and his wife and my nephew and 3 of his buddies. They are all musicians as well so it turned into a pretty late evening with lots of music. One of his friends I hadn't met brought his saxophone as well which was a first for my man cave. All in all a great evening. This year we are heading to friends for New Year's eve for supper and a quiet evening. That will be good as well. Your LCBO party sounds like it will be a good time. And walking distance is a bonus as well. here's a shot from last night... And a Happy and safe New Year to you and everyone on the forum also.

Very cool picture Eric. Hope you have a great night.

Happy new year to everyone, this year I will take the traditional glass of bubbles under Florida sun. Wish I was here for a longer period, in a few years, my wife will be able to take more vacation time at this time of the year so I will put the car on a trailer and bring it with us.

We always do new years with our best friends..
This will be the 42nd new years together for the four of us.
When we were young and raising our kids we alternated houses for new years, having a big feast at 12;30AM to celebrate.
Then when the kids were older we used to do the fancy events at big hotels.
The past few years has found us at a local restaurant..live band, small venue, good eats..good friends.
We have added people occasionally to our new years celebration but proud the four of us have been together.

happy New Year and all the best to everyone.

Wow Graham. That is a very cool accomplishment. Treasure that and enjoy your New Year's eve.

Great story Graham. Friendships that last that long are pretty special.

Enjoy the night with your friends. Happy New Year Graham.

Most envious! Having close friendships so long would even be more rare than having a marriage last that long, considering the inevitability of jobs or any other number of factors separating the two families!

Haaaaaaaappy New Year everyone! It looks like some fantastic ways to bring in the new year. I love the ideas of the smaller get togethers and hearing the great traditions some have.
We brought in 2015 at a comedy club which was quite a riot and beat my expectations. However, this year (or is it last year?) we spent the day out at the lake and relaxed with some ice fishing. Never done that before but enjoyed it pretty well.
