Hi All,
I just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. I have recently purchased a 1999 Magnetic Red C5 with a 6 speed. So far I'm really enjoying the car, and to be honest I have always been a car/race enthusiast, but have never owned a Corvette, and actually know very little about them so I have a lot to learn, and after reading some posts, it appears I came to the right place! I look forward to reading more posts and participating as much as I can.

Hey Dub, welcome to the forum and congratulations on the C5 purchase. Really hope you enjoy the car, they seem to be fairly bulletproof. Get yourself a battery tender and keep the battery charged up when not in use. Low voltage seems to be a common issue when problems do arise. Hopefully you will have none.

Pictures would be great but again welcome.

Hey DUB..
Welcome to the show!!!
C5's are a great bang-for-buck Corvette..
Quality built, with only a few issues to be aware of, but get out there and show, race, rally, cruise..etc
Bring on the questions and concerns..
Lots of great people in your area as well.
But first......we need a picture of this new toy.

Graham

Thanks for the welcome, and Yes I do intend to post some pics. I have the car in my garage this weekend, as I am doing a seven step paint cleanse, polish and wax process. It is half completed now and should have every little swirl and scratch out of it by tomorrow. The previous owner took very good care of the car, but I'm taking it to the next level, as I've done a few times now with other vehicles. Thanks again.

Welcome to the Forum..

(Mag Red C5's are the prettiest of the bunch, and their owners are outstanding Gentlemen..:Cheers2: )

Not that I am biased or anything..o_O

I'm a little over cautious when it comes to the clay bar and probably use twice as much lubricant(Maguiars Quick Detailer) as needed but the only issue that can arise from clay bar is if you're not using enough lubricant. Just take your time and you'll be fine. The cleanser will help clean up whatever contaminants the clay bar doesn't get.

Welcome Dub! the Magnetic Red is my "second" favorite color! the members here are top notch and always willing to help!

Welcome to the Vette club! I'm 1.5 hours North of you near Bonnyville. We have a small group of Corvette owners up here and try to get together at least once a month.

I'm no stranger to LS1s, I have have owned one for 16 years. If you have any questions engine related, feel free to ask - and I'm sure we can arrange a visit either way if you are in need of an extra set of hands for installations/repairs!

Wow, Thanks a lot Nathan! You guys really are helpful and welcoming. I will definitely let you know when I can make a trip up. I'm not sure if you come to Lloyd much but I know the Just Kruzin car club in Lloyd has a cruise night/meet every Weds that I like to check out once in a while.

Welcome to the forum Dub.... Mag red is a great colour.... Almost as good as Daytona sunrise.... :p

Riley.... As for clay bar, Dub is right.... lube, lube and more lube... where have I heard that before.....lol...and linear motion. And do not drop the clay bar. If you do, make sure you fold that side under and don't touch the car with it... It's like a super grit sandpaper after it hits the floor.... (voice of experience)... and lastly, your left over 80's silly putty is not gonna work.....

Sorry for the delay, but the 7 step polishing and waxing process took a little longer than expected....Anyhow, I think it was worth it, and I had a ton of help from my better half.
