Nothing like a lost mine story to ignite the imagination. Great stuff.

That section of Hwy 40 is not near as busy as a little further north. That's where you turn to go to the upper and lower lakes. Most traffic turns off there. South of the turnoff is mostly just trailheads,small day use areas or people just driving a loop. I was surprised at how little (none) were here. Could've been the time of evening and the fact heavy rain was coming.
