I just replaced the battery in my fob. The car kept telling me to, so like a good boy I listened to my car and did it. lol
You take the key out of the fob which exposes another slot. You stick your key in that slot and press hard until it clicks and the battery compartment lid can be pulled off. I was a little tentative at first as it took more effort than I would have thought.

Less than a year later my car is telling me to replace the fob battery AGAIN!
Wow . They don’t make anything like they used to. I keep waiting for the fob battery for my Tundra to crap out. 14 years of the original and still working. Range is diminished a bit but it still works.

Same with the wifes Buick 2009 .... going on 15 years .... still working ....Energizer bunny must be involved ;)

Then change it...sheesh.. If the Mrs told you to change the batteries, there would be no issue huh?
Ouch! LOL SSSH She might hear you!

I think your wife is a secret agent Mod on this Forum.

"Murr, that Raccoon fellow is at it again!"...
You heard of POS? No, not Piece of SHIrT, but "Parent Over Shoulder". What the kids text when they can't speak freely.
Well I got the WOES. "Wife Over Every Shoulder" lol

Replaced my battery a few months ago. You need to use a fair amount of force in step 2 to get the case to open. I was worried I might break it but it was OK. Over the years I have discovered a major difference in the life span of those button batteries. the name brand high quality batteries outlast the dollar store batteries 3 to 1. The other thing I found a couple of years ago is that storing my keys in one of the Faraday pouches that block radio signals seemed to enhance the life of the battery for my daily driver.

I went 35 months on my first battery, no bag, daily driver. Maybe your short battery life is covered if you bought the extended warranty....

Then again is the main 12V car battery. Mine gave out two weeks ago and left me stranded at a restaurant. Fortunately friends had cables and I jump stated the C8. Drove directly to the dealer (Gateway in Brampton) who load tested the battery and then replaced it under warranty no questions asked - car is 25 months old. They figured that there was a direct short in one of the cells.
