What's the consensus of adding the extra 2 litres of transmission fluid? I can definitively say that I will never track my car and I've seen articles where people recommend adding the extra fluid even if you have no plans on tracking the vehicle. I've read it should be done anyway to help with any possible transmission problems. Just wondering what people here have done?

If there were ANY concerns about not enough fluid, GM would have added it. Don't listen to backyard mechanics that like to hear themselves talk. The designers of the transmission are far more knowledgeable than them. The extra fluid is recommended for heavy track usage that the car is capable of.

Hey ..... Yes that was a big concern of mine too.....I wanted to add it just for piece of mind.

But the service advisor at Humberview ( where I got my C8 ) and one of their head Corvette mechanics swore up and down that for " spirited " street driving it was not required.

I wont track my car either ... Im worried that if I scrape the rubber off my beloved C8 with a straight razor I may damage the paint :Confused5:

Do I trust the dealership ? Not really but yes GM engineers say the same thing.

Its all about the massive heat that is generated on the track that is sustained for such long periods.

Heat that wont be generated on the street. Sure I drive my vette at times the way it was intended,
but not constantly I really dont abuse it at all....otherwise things will inevitably break.

In my case and probably alot of other C8 owners If something messes up with the DCT I doubt it will be because of the absence of the 2 quarts of tranny fluid.

Best option i ordered on the C8 is the extended warrenty.;)

Happy Vetting all !

I forget where I saw it (or read it) but GM did also mention somewhere that sustained high cornering loads on the track was also one of the reasons for the extra DCT fluid, to insure no starvation issues. Not an issue for street driving, even with a heavy foot.
Yes, rather than heat, I read that the extra 2L was to negate any starvation associated with high cornering load.
