Hello guys,
I'm late for the vette party, but I guess it's never too late. I think I will finally be financially available to pickup a C8 in the coming months. Things were looking good back in 2023 but life fucked me up all of a sudden and man, big times. Grinded two years and now here I am. Seeking yall folks wisdoms and experience.

I'm based in Vancouver BC, and I think my budget is around 100k and hard capped at 120k, would very much love to avoid the luxury tax but a little over the limit won't kill the deal.
My ideal trim would be a 2LT Z51, either couple or convertible. I'm not against used inventory but a new one would still be awesome. Below are my questions asked sincerely:

1. What model year would make the most sense in the current market? I thought I should be looking for models after 2023 given my budget range, but I was not following year over year updates during the past two years.

2. If I were to negotiate on new inventory with dealers, what kind of MSRP discounts should I expect? I'm assuming 2024 and even 2025 stock should be on heavier discounts day after day, but I don't want to straight lowball to the ground.

3. If I end up picking up used inventory, anything in particular that I should be looking for other the Carmax report?

I would really appreciate any input, and I truly hope I get to join the fun very very soon... The wait is a pain, life was a struggle, but I made it out and now it's time to reward myself.

Welcome to the forum. I am a new C8 owner myself. Glad that you had made it out from your recent challenges! Better days are coming behind the wheel of your soon to own C8.
I had the similar budget as you and the spec. Z51 is a minimum in 2LT/3LT.
It had gone over a little but life is short. lol..
I ended up buying a showroom 24' just for the fact that it has the updated transmission oil pan. Not saying that anything wrong with previous one.
Happy shopping!

Ya, there aren't any enormous changes over the years. Wireless car play / android auto, the tranny pan, additional sensors etc.. I'd rather concern myself with budget and what's available. You'll love any year you can get.

Thank you for the cheering and input. Life is too short and you need to enjoy every single day with a vette

Appreciate the input, awesome reminder about the transmission situation. Thanks

I just traded my 2024 in on a new E-Ray it only had 127 kms on it, 2024 C8 Z51 with front lift, nice wheels and black trim, colour Carbon flash with black interior, the dealer maybe selling it for just a bit over your max, but they would be no luxury tax as it’s classed as used.
Kelowna Chevrolet, they may have had a buyer for it as it doesn’t show up on their website yet, but then again they only got it on Thursday.
Forgot to say it’s a convertible
Forgot as well it’s a 3LT

It used to be one had to order the Z51 to get many of the desirable features, however, now you can get pick and choose most of the Z51 options as separate options without having to pay for the full package. Unless you really want/need some of the Z51 options pick and choose which ones are important to you and seek them out. If you are not tracking the car from time to time do you really need the extra braking capacity? the extra cooling capacity?? Do you also want the Pilot Sport 4S summer only tires or would you rather have the Pilot Sport AS4 tires that come on the Stingray so that you can comfortably drive in the cooler temperatures at either end of the season. The AS tires also last about 40% longer than the Z51 tires. I have owned a couple of Z51s and they were great but by the time I ordered my C8 I was able to order what I wanted without paying for the entire Z51 package. If you think you will drive with the top down a lot certainly get the HTC, it is much nicer than the removable top which can be a real pain to store and you get a lot of wind buffeting in the car. With the HTC you don't loose trunk space which was a problem on the C7 convertible. Do you have driveways or other places where the front end lift would make life much easier? I have a lip on my driveway and speed bumps on my street that make the front lift necessary so I ordered it and glad I did. Have fun!!!!!

I don't ever track my car and I want the biggest brakes and best handling as in turns sport car/vette for the street. If I want comfort, I will just get a sedan or suv. That is just me.
You will never get to use several of the Z51 enhancements on the street. The Z51 brakes are more fade resistant for repeated hard braking like you experience on a club track day or an autocross. However, for everyday driving they throw off a lot of brake dust. Just read the forums and see how owners are complaining about them. On a straight braking distance test like you encounter on everyday driving there is no discernable difference. Same with the extra cooling capacity, you'll never ever use it unless you are doing competitive driving. On the tires, even Michelin claims that the 4S tire only has 5% more lateral grip than the AS4 on the Stingray. When I used to do some autocross the Z51 was worthwhile, also in those days you had to get the Z51 in order to get the performance exhaust plus several other options. Now you can order almost everything individually.

Wow I truly appreciate your reply and this really put the Z51 option in discussion for my purchase because I actually think I won't track my C8 more than 5% of times and the Z51 may just be excess to my case. Would love the exhaust for sure. Also I was browsing Autotrader and there were quite a few of cars with ideal specs that I initially passed on due to lack of Z51, but now they are definitely going to be in consideration. You are goated

I thought I got to browse through yours somewhere, but honestly not sure. Sadly black is just not an option for me, otherwise I bet this would make a whole lot of sense pricing and trim wise... Who knows, maybe it's just a wrap away

All valid points and I am aware of the draw back with the Z51. I am taking steps to midigate that.
It helps with OP buying decisions. All good.
And please do your own ceramic coating on the rims. Helps with clean up of the brake dust.
