Hi,I am a woman from Montreal,Quebec and have always loved vettes from way back in the 70's when my brother drove me to high school in a orange corvette with a T-roof and let me out in front of the school and everybody thought it was my boyfriend and I lied and said yes it was my boyfriend. My brother was a looker .And that was not the only time I was in the vette and I missed it when he sold it.

I have question on a vette and not sure where to post any help would be grateful.I am new to this part and by the way I love all types of cars and yes I am a woman not the typical one.

I need help getting a miami vice corvette in its from the US. It reminds me of a hybrid of the C2 and C5 vettes and were considering removing the labels and replacing them with ferrari vette ones and wonder what type of problems and money I would be spending to get it across the canadian border and then licensed here.I have seen one being sold here in Canada but I missed it so just thougth I would ask.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum Daytona Girl!

Post any and all questions that you have. We'll do our best to help you out. Is there a link to the Corvette you are interested in or pictures of it so we can help you further?

Bringing a Corvette back into Canada is not too difficult of a process. You just have to notify the border with the year/colour/VIN/Title, your driver's licence info, and bill of sale 72 hours prior to reaching the border. Then upon entering Canada, you have to stop and pay the RIV fees, taxes....and after the federal and provincial inspeciton, you should be good! I may be missing a thing or two but I'm sure someone can fill you in!

Welcome daytonagirl to the forum!! Many cars are coming from the US over here now with little or no hassel. That is a great looking car is it the actual one you want to bring over? Good luck with getting the car of your dreams!!

That is the actual car I want to bring across the border

Hmm. Ferrari is a little different animal than Corvette. This would probably require a call to a broker unless someone here knows the ins and outs of importing cars. I forgot to mention that you will also have to obtain a letter from a dealership indicating that all recall work has been performed on this car.

From the link looking at Admissible cars: FERRARI # (see notes)

Read EXPLANATIONS section.

Ferrari North America, Inc. requires that importers contact an authorized Canadian Ferrari dealership to determine exact nature and costs of modifications and specifies that ALL modifications MUST be performed by an authorized Canadian Ferrari dealership.

For recall letter, contact Ferrari North America, Inc. in U.S.A. at 1-201-816-2600 after vehicle inspection. Modifications must be performed by an authorized Canadian Ferrari dealership.

For Ferrari dealership information, please visit Ferrari official websites

#: See also paragraph 8 of EXPLANATIONS section.

Its a private owner who owns this beauty not a dealership.I hope that helps also.It is a corvette C3 that was modified and love the look.

As xlr8r mentioned, you should visit Registrar of Imported Vehicles, the Canadian government office responsible for handling imported vehicles.

As it is a kit-car, there are very specific issues to deal with, and it may not be eligible for import at all.

I've brought a few in from the U.S. and it can be very complicated for anything beyond a normal, everyday vehicle. Be careful and check your facts with people who know.

Good luck.

I went on the site riv.ca and it did not list the year of the car.I saw a picture of a Daytona a hockey player had a picture taken with but not sure if it was built here in quebec or not,its an old picture.Well its in color but the clothes says its like the 70 or 80.Complicated,oh boy I hope not.To find this in canada I saw one and it sold awhile back and to find another one in Canada that's like a pin the haystack.Don't love going through government BS sorry but that's how I feel.I understand the laws but I don't have to like them.

Just looked up to see if kit cars were allowed in and this what it said None are admissible in canada if less than fifteen years old assembled or disassembled so the Daytona is a kit car?

It's almost certain to be a kit car. However, your first question of the seller is how is it titled? What does it say on the registration/ownership/title papers in the jurisdiction it's located in now?

Is it registered as a Corvette? If so, which year? Does it meet all the emissions, safety and bumper standards for that year? Probably not.

Until you have it in writing from the federal government that you can import it, please don't buy it.
