Hi Gang!

My first post here. I am a former owner of a 2010 Challenger SRT. However, the preview of the 2015 Corvette has me smitten. I cant get over the amazing job they are doing on that car. My wife is on board with me getting one when it comes out next year.

So, in the meantime, I am learning what I can about the Corvette and what to expect from the 2015 C7 model.

Thanks for having me! :canada:

Glad to have you along Scott -- Quite a few members now from the wet coast.

Congrats on the forthcoming C7......You've picked one very special car and a whole different ball game from the Dodge....:D

Cheers,
Colin.

Welcome Scott. Good luck with your forthcoming C7 purchase.

Thanks everyone!

I think it will just take me a while to figure out all the Corvette terminology!

I was really confused to see that this 2015 was called a C6 (or C7 depending on optional goodies) and then to see that the ZR1 was considered to be the top of the line yet not as good as the upcoming C6!?

Makes my head spin!

Good thing I have a year or so to learn before I buy. :D

Scott the C6 era finished at the end of 2013. 2014 starts a new generation and is the C7. Your 2015 will be second year C7.

-----------------------------
C1 (1953-1962)
C2 (1963-1967)
C3 (1968-1982) (only 1 1983 car made which is a C4)
C4 (1984-1996)
C5 (1997-2004)
C6 (2005-2013)
C7 (2014- )

Glad to have you along.
Colin.

When starting out into the Corvettes, it is confusing so ask away and we'll help as best we can. Don't worry about thinking a question is too dumb to ask, we've all been there.....and if you're anything like me.....been there quite a few times!

The "Base" C7 is called a Stingray (Still has 455hp!)
The Stingray is available with an optional suspension package called a Z51.
All Stingrays have a removable roof panel.
The Stingray is also available as a convertible with or without Z51.

The next model up is the C7 Z06. I am not sure if this is still going to be called a Stingray (ie Stingray Z06) or not.
The Z06 is available with a Z07 suspension package that also adds increased aerodynamic parts for track use.
All Z06 models are come with removable roofs which is a big deal as the C6 Z06 only came with a fixed roof.

There is no ZR1 available in the C7 generation yet and it is unknown whether GM will produce a higher performance Corvette than the Z06 or just leave the line up as it currently is.

*sniff* The kindness and clarity on this forum brings a tear to my eye.
I phoned my local dealership and am going to put a small deposit down to hold my place in line (or whatever they call it) for the 2015 Z06 (or Z07...not sure what the price difference would be).
Strange doing this for a car that doesnt really exist yet nor do I know what the price is!
