Searching can be irritating when you're drunk so let's improve the experience a little.

Quick little 'enhancement'. A new Google Search tab is now available in your search results as per screenshots attached. So when you search and are not happy with the site search results, click on the Google search tab and after a quick shower of ads you'll see google's version. The ads are not by choice, they're kindly forced upon us for the pleasure of using Google's services.

Unfortunately Google's search is and will always generally be better than anything I can come up with so if you can't fight it feature it I say. As a side benefit you can search on keywords down to 2 characters.

The screens below are accessible via your regular search button (top right).

Currently we're defaulting to regular old Site Search but if you guys like Google better I can switch it so it goes there first.

OMG.... I seldom use Google as a search engine.... I detest the way that Google is always downloading or trying to download subsidiary programs and whatnots onto my systems.... I'm the guy that regularly goes into my "add/remove programs" and removes everything that has mysteriously appeared and contains the word Google.... Our IT guru at my office says my 7 year old CPU is the cleanest and fastest running in my office of 22 stations and all much newer machines than mine .... Maybe I'm just lucky.... So that being said Nik, most of what you often say ( technologically speaking that is) is a cross between Greek and Mandarin Chinese to a challenged individual such as me.... but who am I to judge the bits and bites of wisdom of my fellow corvette enthusiasts. I sincerely hope other, more tech prone individuals, will benefit from the obviously talented and unrelenting work you are putting in, but I will no doubt still take the old school, long way around as I only seem to find those little tabs and buttons most refer to, by chance..... or blind luck .... But I digress... the real reason I am replying to this post is to compliment you on one of the most profound statements that has come my way in quite some time.... "Searching can be irritating when you're drunk"....
To that, even one as primitive as I can relate.

Lol. Happy that pushing the drinking envelope resonates well with you good sir... And that of your fastest 7 year old cpu.. My own main computer is pushing 5 almost and still running carefree as I too keep things off it until my son gets home and decides to download a banner sponsored free game. Sigh.

Unfortunately you won't have the option to uninstall the google search off these forums but never fear you can simply not click on the little tab when searching. Uncle google may be a tad sad that he's not collecting data for your next purchase but I think he'll survive this episode. :)

P.S. Above statement was in jest. The google search is executed by the forums server by way of proxy so for those of you fearful of the big G don't worry they won't be spying on you directly using the forums search. Now using google itself is a whole different matter.
