More tech verbal drivel but trying to keep you in the loop to avoid hate mail. :)

As we prep to phase in global traffic the following things will happen behind the scenes mostly.

1. We're migrating the forums to new geo redundant hardware. This will add a layer of protection against localized network and Datacenter outages and will allow westerners to shave off a few tenths of a second off your load times :) and as a bonus forum upgrades can happen with 0 downtime.

2. We're deploying bug fixes and the first iteration of the global forum

All of this should on paper happen this weekend time permitting. There may be the odd bit of downtime but hoping to keep it to a minimum.

I will be watching this very carefully Nik. Not a clue what I will be watching but never the less I will be keeping an eye on this.:D

Just another note. I found about quite by accident that if you reply to a thread but for some reason forget to "post reply" that your message is actually still waiting for you to push the button. The message appears faintly at the very end of the thread when you go back to it. Great feature for old people with bad memories.

Lol, yep, it keeps a saved draft and there's an even fainter msg that pops up when you pause typing indicating that your draft is saved. It's pretty cool.

One step closer to the global forum opening.

Proud to announce that the new URL will be globalvette.com (currently not working so no need to try it).

The way this will work is as follows:

1. Going to the new global site (globalvette.com) will yield a slightly different looking forum but with some CCF content at the bottom. The global site will hopefully bring in corvette owners from around the world (not just US). It will be structured 'similarly' to CCF but obviously without the Canadian specific content.
2. The CCF board will remain unchanged with the exception of a link to the global site and probably a drop down to switch between the two. It will be similar to how camaro5/6.com works but obviously much better looking and more functional. Again the idea is that we don't want to add a hundred more forums to CCF with 'global' content unless we see a lot of shared topics.
3. As CCF members you automatically have access to view/post/list for sale items in both forums, your usernames/passwords will remain unchanged.
4. 'Generic' forums will be shared between the 2 sites i.e. forums under the Corvette category so we don't duplicate content
5. Classifieds and events will also be shared between the 2 sites

Anyway, better wait to see it.
