A friend of mine from California pronounces a Z as a ZEE. Here we call it ZED. Mericans. LOL.

Perhaps the word “Throughbred” was purposely spelled that way to emphasis the “speed” associated with corvette: it’s so fast that GM didn’t have time to insert the “o” when describing it! There must be a literary term for this carefully crafted technique. I’ll wish all a great Friday and Coronavirus free w/e.
