Emergency Wheels & Tires Needed

Just been informed I’m losing my winter storage before Feb 28th. Car cannot be moved or trailered out of where it’s located (saving the details). I’m after a set of factory or aftermarket wheels and all season tires so I can move it. This is my easiest solution. Let me know what you have.

Thank you.
If you're just looking to move it go to a local scrap yard for a set of tires and rims
Unless you are planning to run it in wintery weather. Then you'll have to upgrade.

In case of emergency, just drive on the summer tires
I'm shocked you just said this Dennis. Do your research on the 4S's. My storage got cold last year for a few weeks. Just from being parked in temperatures in the minuses I damaged my tires. This spring I pulled the car out and noticed my ultimate grip in corners was greatly reduced. Turns out that just the cold exposure will alter the compound some, permanently. These tires are not to be moved when cold or you risk damage and cracking. Right from Michelin. You must warm them for 24 hours before hand. Cold use also voids your warranty.

Not as simple as that. With some research I might find something.... The issue is our brake set ups. Larger discs and calipers equal clearance issues. Especially with the Z51 option.

I have a set of near new Michelin snow tires that are 18's and 19's.

Where are you? Perhaps you could borrow some?

So, you strongly disagree? LOL
I do also. I can't see them creating a tire that will be destroyed by sitting in cold weather. However, it's his car. If that's what he wants to believe so be it. He's kinda stuck either way. He might be forced to drive it with the summers on.

I guess you’re not familiar with all the cracked tires that came on the C7’s then? They ended up changing delivery dates laid in the season due to the colder temperatures, and car is showing up at the dealer with cracked tires as well. The cup two summer tires were cracking like crazy.

Yes, that's true. I do recall hearing about that. However that could have been a one off. Just sitting I can't see tires going bad.
You still may be forced to drive it with the summers on.

Well, I don’t want to burst your delusion of my delusion… but part of my living was made as a professional driver for 25 years. When my car storage dipped into the minuses for a few weeks, and I feel the difference, then Michelle and backs the statement. I guess I’m wrong. Along with the company that made them. The cup 2 crack like crazy. Research tire compounds and learn. Again, shocked at your reply. A simple but if research will back all I have said. Why do you think summer only tires become dangerous in low temperatures? It’s due to the compound. Enjoy the road.

I did not say they were destroyed by sitting. I said the compound will change and you will find you don’t have the same properties. If they are driven on, you can destroy the tire.

I've never noticed that, but then I'm not an expert anyway.
Where are you? Perhaps you can borrow some from someone who has snows on right now ... Like Jack.

I’d thought about that as a possibility. Right now I’m finding most heated storage full. Best option looking like garage rental at local storage facilities. Which will leave me above outdoor temp but not in a good temp range for extended storage. I’m in Oakville. I’ve got until the end of the month.

As per Tire Rack re cold storage of summer performance tires.

Will prolonged cold weather storage affect summer tire compounds

Yes, prolonged cold weather storage can significantly affect summer tire compounds. While simply storing them in the cold is less damaging than driving on them, temperatures consistently below
40°F (5°C), and particularly below 20°F (-7°C), can cause the specialized rubber to harden, become brittle, and potentially develop cracks.

A simple Google search will bury you in results hacking everything I have said.

I should have know better than start this thread lol.

One day I might post a thread on here about a certain specialty forum I was part of. One day a person started a thread about how all the experts with real knowledge never commented anymore and that many left.

We were pretty much the top in Canada in our field and I’d reply for free online. Only to be told I was wrong. The commenters would even go against physics.

I’m not nearly as versed in tires as I was in that field but I did make a good part of my living as a professional stunt driver. Doing the car commercials for the major companies and movie sequences etc.

I knew the minute I got in the car last spring that something was off. That being said, my seat is extremely sensitive vs a normal driver. I’ll feel a difference from a minute change in pressure from tire to tire in my car. Ones a regular driver would never even sense. Most will not notice the differences that the compound change causes. To me, it’s very noticeable.
