Question is, how many on this forum do you think would be interested ? The performance is pretty impressive until the battery starts to discharge. But the canned sound track just doesn’t really cut it compared to a NA V8 . Unless of course it can fart like a Tesla….
Ya, it would be an adjustment. Young'uns who aren't weaned on the smell of unburned fuel may like them. Personally I could make the change.Question is, how many on this forum do you think would be interested ? The performance is pretty impressive until the battery starts to discharge. lol . ICE or nothing for me ! But , eventually all you will see will be 3ton battery cars . But I have a feeling that won’t be as soon as proponents say or would like. In many cases they are no “ greener “ than gas or diesel vehicles depending on several factors and depending on who you believe. The $64 question is what happens to the millions of depleted batteries that will eventually accumulate over time. Recycling them is quite expensive and infrastructure and energy intensive and there in is one of the other issues, cost overall.Ya, it would be an adjustment. Would you have purchased an E-Ray if it had been available in 2020 ? Best of both worlds perhaps but personally I like what I have.Ya, it would be an adjustment. Young'uns who aren't weaned on the smell of unburned fuel may like them. Personally I could make the change.
No. The C8 is the dream of my life.Would you have purchased an E-Ray if it had been available in 2020 ?
China is the largest user of EV's in the world. Saw that on the news just the other day.lol . ICE or nothing for me ! But , eventually all you will see will be 3ton battery cars . In regions with a heavily fossil-fuel-based electricity grid, such as parts of China, and India , electric vehicles (EVs) can have higher lifecycle emissions than gasoline cars. For instance, a driver in China might need to drive an EV for about 118,000 kilometers before it becomes cleaner than a gasoline vehicle due to the grid’s carbon intensity. In contrast, regions with cleaner electricity, like Canada, consistently show that EVs are significantly greener than gasoline cars. Thus, the environmental impact of EVs varies greatly depending on local energy sources.
In Ontario 30% of recyclables are recycled. It's a lot lower in the rest of Canada. They can catch up.Recyclers never catch up.

From Perplexity……Recyclers never catch up. It's a behind closed door secret that most of our proposed recyclables secretly reside in landfills. Occasionally it does get shredded first. They tried making plastic lumber... we saw how well that worked. Sorry but the millions of tons of plastics that we use, abuse and discard do end up in landfill. Much like China and Japan's end up in the ocean. The ocean is deep. Lots of room for disposed EV batteries..... for a few years anyway...

That's the worst part! At every highway exit the trash sitting on the side of the road sickens me.and consumer habits.
Sad but true.From Perplexity……
In the United States, approximately 5% to 6% of plastic waste is recycled annually. Globally, this figure is slightly higher, with about 9% of total plastic waste being recycled. The majority of plastic—around 72%—ends up in landfills or the environment, highlighting significant challenges in recycling infrastructure and consumer habits.
What percentage of EV batteries are currently recycled? We own both types. ICE and an EV. Batteries on EVs last longer than most ICE cars, before you start paying mucho $ for repairs , on ICE. Toyotas Prius have been hybrids for 15 years , at least and still have the same batteries. Test have proven that EV batteries last a lot longer than first thought , unless you own a Tesla. In Quebec we already have a battery recycling plant for these batteries, in Trois Riviere, and sell a lot cheaper than originals. My wife drives at least 25,000 kms a year. She saves at least 225 liters of gas,a month, at 1.50$x225=337.00$ a month , not counting oil changes etc. Some Chevy Bolts have up to 250,000kms and still have the same batteries and with no repairs. We also paid les than 30,000$ for it and it is a fully loaded version. China will have to build recycling plants for these batteries and they may already have them but I know it has started in most countries that sell a lot of these EVs. I personally prefer my cars make a sound.![]()
These batteries are 95% recyclable. You recoup 95%! Now I do not know how many because this is pretty new and most batteries are still in usage mode. Quebec is moving forward with having plants recycle all of them. Quebec buys the most EVs besides China. If you do not believe the propaganda from the oil companies , Americans are buying more and more EVs.What percentage of EV batteries are currently recycled?
Currently, only about 5% of electric vehicle (EV) batteries are recycled, despite the potential to recover up to 95% of their materials. This low recycling rate is attributed to high costs, lack of standardized recycling processes, and the fact that many batteries have not yet reached the end of their life cycles. As the EV market grows, improving recycling infrastructure and practices will be crucial for sustainability.
As usual it comes down to cost. Hopefully this percentage will increase but probably not until the supply of “ ingredients “ that go into a battery become more expensive due to depletion of current available deposits. Worldwide the percentage of vehicles on the road that are EV’s is only about %5 so the issue of end of life batteries has just begun really.
May well be but the reason that so many EV’s are sold in Quebec, and BC , is because of federal and provincial subsidies. The federal subsidy money in Canada just ran out . I have a sneaking suspicion that the mandates for EV sales in Canada could possibly disappear or be cut back after the coming election. That may be going to change but only time will tell. Trump just signed an executive order ending subsidies and mandates for electric vehicles. Not at all surprising considering his “ drill baby drill “ stance. May the Gods have mercy on us.These batteries are 95% recyclable. You recoup 95%! Now I do not know how many because this is pretty new and most batteries are still in usage mode.
