Who is a fan of contrasting color brake calipers and why . I have seen some color combinations that make me curious to say the least . Not to mention seat belts matching . And yes to each their own of course . Take a look at the on lot units ordered on spec by dealerships and it seems few are the base black which is pretty neutral .

I haven’t been anywhere that people have seen my new E-Ray, here in Edmonton, AB but I’m sure they’re going to be disappointed that, this being my fourth Corvette since 2016, I didn’t go with black rims, as I usually do. AND, then I decided instead of red callipers (& I’ve had blue calipers), I decided to go with yellow this time! 🤪 I kind of regret it though…it kinda looks, OK. I think I should’ve just went with orange. But it’ll do for the next two years till the next one. I like to stick out. I hate when a Corvette of my colour goes by me and we look exactly the same.

I have a red car with black calipers does that count? ;)
I like matchy matchy myself. Black accents on the C8 required black wheels. 🤷‍♂️
Mine has black wheels and calipers. So many different combinations are nice to have available though for those with more eclectic tastes. Red and black works for me….makes me wonder why GM charges more for anything other than black. Can’t see red paint costing more than black . Especially an $810 difference.

Nice spec. Nothing wrong with your combination imo. I you have those beefy calipers, why wouldn't you want to show it.

I never thought of brake calipers, especially stock, OEM brake calipers, and something I really wanted to call attention to. The trend toward Red brake calipers was started by Brembo, who painted theirs red to highlight the brand. But now you can get red brake calipers on a Toyota Corolla (probably) or Kia, so it's hardly a sign of a high performance component any more. If you like the way it looks, go for it. I decided to spend my money elsewhere.

By sheer chance my Shadow Grey C7's standard callipers were also metallic grey...so they match. I like the subtle colour...not a fan of the brightly coloured callipers although they look cool on some...just not my taste.
I remember on my non-Z51 C7 the calipers were grey, and black ones were a $500 option. On the Z51, black ones were standard, and grey was a $500 option. It's all marketing.

It sure is! Same with paint colours...when I bought mine silver for eg. was free, but I had to pay $1,000 for the grey (or most other colours). Ordering the same shadow grey on a Camaro at the time was $500. Speaking with our long term body shop owner a few years ago, he said that there's no difference in his cost between colours...so charging extra for some is really bogus.

Hang on, you have a "long term body shop" guy? If you see me at a cruise, keep 5 cars in front or behind me please lol...
Ha no...we've been dealing with the same indie body shop for 30 years...,mostly it's been someone else hitting one of our vehicles at one time or another! I've done a couple of parking lot scrapes on my Vette's over the years...usually low concrete curbs that I didn't notice or thought I'd cleared them :canada:

No different cost for the paint, but some colors are multi-layer paint process while others are single layer, and there is a cost difference for that.

You're right...there were a few such colours for the C7 that were even more expensive...like $1,500 more. My metallic grey though is no different than the metallic silver they were offering for free.

As an old guy that likes a bit of bling, those wheels are gorgeous!
