Convertible Problem

Ok, I have the 2010 GS Vert. Problem is when putting top up or down, the leading edge of the top catches the hatch latch. Is there a way to fix this to stop it from happening? As I think if left unchecked it will eventually wear the fabric and start a tear in it there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks C.O.

Very common problem with the C6 convertibles. Mine does the exact same thing and so do a few others I know. There are adjustments you can make but eventually, it just starts rubbing again.

Just take it nice and slow when putting the roof up or down.

You can google the issue and you'll get hundreds of hits.

Thanks for the link Zeeman, was very hopeful on one fellows solution, of checking the bolts, and making a slight adjustment. But for what I can see if I get out of the car and can push the tonneau just a little bit more and the top clears. So it almost seems like the push rod doesn't push the tonneau arm forward enough. Like you said, seems to be a common problem but no common cure. Will investigate further.....

I have the power top as well and it started doing the same thing. I usually just reach back and hold the top out of the way when the hatch drops into place.

Had the anuual service on my 2005 convertible and got the garage to check the top. they said there is no adjustment for it. the mechanics suggestion was to put a little string on it to pull it in when raising the roof. Ha, NOT!

I had these issues since I picked my 09 18 months ago. I had both problems talked about here. The leading edge would hit the tonneau cover on the way down and the back window would hit the cover in both directions. After going to many different top experts with minimal success I had my problems fixed at Carlisle last year. There was a GM rep there who was an expert on the tops. She fixed it in about 10 minutes.

The adjustment points you need are located under 2 plastic caps just behind the doors (one on each side). There are 2 bolts in there that allow you to move the top assembly forward slightly. She moved it forward until it cleared without catching and then tightened everything back up. I hasn't been an issue since.
