Hey folks, just an update to let you know I haven't forgotten about CCF as we amidst CES activities in Las Vegas and I just completed Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School. To say this was an amazing experience is an understatement. Very little time is spent in class and most of your time is spent in a car that matches your config (Stingray/Z06/manual/auto). We had a bit of a different experience as it rained like cats and dogs on the afternoon of the second day but do you think that shut anything down? Nope... the track was still negotiated with water pooling in several corners. I like this shot myself!
From a personal perspective, anyone who has the opportunity but does not take this has to be out there! It is a very educational 2 days where you really get to know your car. I had the rare opportunity to get the instructors ride in both the Stingray and Z06 A8. This session is where the instructors take the students for ride and show how it is really done! I don't want to really debate the difference between the two as they are both amazing vehicles but the feel is so different between both. In the Stingray, I actually had a conversation with the driver on how it felt like the back end was sliding at very high corners; he stated that it was not but that was the feel. In the Z06, this feeling was not there at all and that was at a somewhat faster pace.
For me, the most valuable session was the weather mode training session. Each gets a chance to drive a figure 8 in water at there own comfort and you are encouraged to do doughnuts or let it break control. I had a blast. The instructor then threw it in weather mode and said he would give me ten bucks if I could lose control in the same method. Told me to floor it through the corner. Try any method I wanted. Damn! I absolutely could not break control of the car. Doughnuts are simply not possible in that situation.
Oh....and I finally figured out that the C7 does have an accessory switch...eheheh...the smallest things!
Anyway, anyone not aware that you get a significant discount at Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School...
