C8 HTC Engine Window Installation

Agreed but i still love the look of that 6.2 and still get that feeling everytime im shining it up :D :D :D

And yup i stand corrected the E-Ray 128 798
Z06 130 197

1400 bucks diff out of the gate but basically the same at that level .

Good luck on the quest for the Z06 ....it will be a honey for sure .

If I had the HTC I would never install that window kit .... but I really appreciate the engineering behind it and for those bold enough to try it :Hurray:

E-Ray comes standard with carbon ceramic brakes that are a $9,775 option on the Z06 so some people argue that its $11,174 cheaper equally spec'd

Posted this vid originally as I thought some HTC owners would get a kick out of it .

Obviously its not for everyone .:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Didnt really think it would turn into some bashing the C8 engine.

Some may think the HTC option is " cooler " than the coupe with the engine bay window .... I sure as hell don't and thats perfectly fine ..... who cares , to each his own.

Because with my opinion and a buck fifty you can by a pop at your local vending machine.

Dont really require a history lesson on my posts ... I know what I post and the message I'm trying to get across .

When ever I am at a car meet I love looking at cars ( not just vettes ) and their mechanicals .... stock or not.... and appreciate the time and care that was taken in detailing them. I would never laugh ( maybe some would but I wouldnt ) at someone showing off a stock vehicle that was immaculate. Im always in awe.

But it begs 2 questions .....

1. If the C8 is powered by the exact same engine used in a beat up 10 year old Silverado ... why would Chevy use it in the E-Ray , that will MSRP for more than the Z06 ?

2. If one were to believe that the C8 engine is nothing more than the same thing you would find in a 10 year old pick up ... why the hell would you buy the car to the tune of 100 grand plus...? No answer req here as I already know the answer.

Should I be afraid the next time I pull along side an old pick up that hell take me off the line?:p

We all have opinions and to me that 10 year old recycled pick up truck engine that sits behind me is in its own way a true work of art ......Dam straight it is .
Don’t take yourself too seriously Vettnut…it’s just a forum that invites all kinds of perspectives. I’m glad you love the coupe and this option of showing off an HTC engine bay.

Why not have both?
I agree! Maybe one day GM will actually make a visual engine bay a reality using something much less “kit-car” than the little one they are about to launch. In the meantime, I think the HTC is simply a better looking design with its top up or down, (it was designed before the coupe) than the coupe and has the cool factor of a hardtop convertible. Happy Morotoring…

Hey Beautiful ..

Dont know if any of you gents ( or ladies ) came across this but saw an interesting vid on you tube yesterday

Are any of you HTC guys courageous enough to try this ? It looks pretty invasive but having the HTC AND being able to see the engine ?? Super sexy !!

Ferrai have beautiful & expensive engines worthy of display and they got it right the first time. GM and aftermarket kits…not so much. Perhaps one day GM will offer some beautiful design and improve the “look” of our beloved 6.2s. Happy Motoring!

I wonder what one could do for a reasonable sum to pretty up the engine bay? In other words surely on a coupe with its powerplant on display there are upgrades outside of additional plastic covers or fake Velocity stacks? I know it will never be a ferrari but surely there are options?
stick on additional plastic covers or fake velocity stacks?

I am done with this thread, unsubscribed

Well we could try to fabricate something out of Lego blocks that could be pretty cool

🤣🤣 if we can’t laugh at each other in this context we got nothing left

Or cover it with those "where we've been" stickers you see on older motorhomes, to help hold them together.

A big no thank you.

I was interested in the lower clear engine cover until I did some research and their site says the cover it attached using 3M dual lock tape (code for velcro). A bit concerning...but they have developed some interesting mods!

It's not quite velcro. Velcro is hook and eye. This stuff looks quite a bit different and stronger. How good, I don't know, but it doesn't appear it will wear out like velcro either.
