C8: Do You Need the Z51 PKg.??

not worth 8k imo
He made some good points, I thought: price is important. I notice with my C7 stingray - at aggressive speeds going into curves the rear end is a little soft: no sway bar back there and I suspect the shocks are different - the springs are stiffer in the Z51 Pkg. - not sure how that overlaps with the C8 which has a different system - coil overs, I believe? Since my C8 was nixed by the boss, I am going to get installed the Z51 sway bars (F&R) and shocks: comments welcome.

Z51 offers a multitude of things for the car to be far more track worthy. It is a good chunk of cash for it but well worth it if the car is tracked or in other events. Doing the mods separately would be many times more costly. Totally unnecessary for street and highway cruising but some want it anyway... which is also fine.

Another thing to note is for the guys who are buying their first corvette all the expensive performance options rarely make sense until they drive the car and are around cars and get to know owners with these options. Very often their opinions change and they upgrade. That is my experience. I knew I wanted a Z06.... Just took 3 of them to know which one I would enjoy the most. No big deal

I have coilovers on my 15 Z51. The ride is a bit stiffer then the OEM shocks but the car corners like it's on rails. This is something that can be done later. The sway bar can also be added. Ddgermann is correct in that if you have these items done separately, it will cost more … and I really don't know how you will get the eLSD. Either way, fantastic cars.

Yes imagine the cost of an eSLD retrofit... wow
These are always interesting discussions as like you, some have experience with heavy mods while others like me just upgraded within the factory options available. (for now..haha)

I used to do that with my mountain sleds and loved it. It was so much fun to rip the thing apart and add lightweight aftermarket stuff and power. The go and feel the difference in riding it. I totally get what you are doing.

1LT Z51 Mag ride the only options I ordered. May be expensive but if you want the best performance that is what you need to have. Any other options are just nice to have but don't improve the performance of the car. One other option I like (I have it on other cars) is ventilated seats but the cost wasn't worth it to me for the 2LT. The only other expenses for me will be, I am going to powder coat my wheels satin black.

Never disappointed with the Z51 option on my C6, I would also go for the same on the C8 track or not. Don't forget this is the 1st year C8 I am sure many improvements are on the way!

For me it was simple. Will you track the car or not. I'm not tracking the car... ever. I would also rather have the higher mileage all-season tires. So for me, I won't notice what that 8K has to offer on the street. I put that 8K into a vert, far more value for what you get, at least for me. I got the NPP, high wing and added the Z51 front splitter and STI for 700 bucks so I'm good for that Z51 looks department.

For me, I'll not track the car, prefer the all-season tires for 3 season driving, don't have the room in my garage to store yet another set of tires/rims and I see the Z06 C8 and future versions to be the more track-ready C8's that will eclipse the Z51 package when they come out. So I don't want or feel the need for the Z51 package. But having said that, this is just my opinion and I respect everyone else's right to hold their own and differing opinions. Regardless of what you purchase, it's a phenomenal vehicle! And of course...with the current state of events, I'd be happy with just about ANY 2020 C8 at this stage (sigh).

I went with the z51 and 2LT with Front Lift. I wanted the data recorder and rear camera LCD mirror features. There are many good options in the package and value is subjective. To each their own. I do hope to take up the track hobby with this car.
Makes sense to me. Need pics when it arrives. Enjoy the ride!!

You don't need to get Z51 to get 2LT or Front End Lift. I got those with no Z51. You need Z51 to get Mag Ride. On the 2021 you won't need Z51 for Mag Ride.

It looks like he was just speaking in general as to what he wanted his car built out like... including the Z51 additions. You made your opinion on the Z51 package clear above and for you that's great. All makes sense. ABC's car seems to be trimmed out in a very considerate and practical manner to suit his expectations. I love all the different configurations available with the last 3 generations of Corvettes. Can't think of another sports car that offers so many choices.

Hey ddgermann I agree with you 100%. Thought this thread was Z51 Pkg. specific that's all. There are plenty of people out there that think they need something in particular to get something else... thats it.

No worries as you are very possibly correct. Hard to imagine someone buying a car without understanding all the specs and options but I never thought I would be locked down for months in paradise with an adequate supply of Jack Daniels either. I now realize anything is possible.

You know the car so keep on clarifying as your intentions are good.

I ordered my car with Z51 because to me it was a $4500 decision, Z51 package is $5900 without MRC then if you minus the NPP exhaust for $1400 that many order anyway I don't think it's much money. Yes I will track my car but some C8 owners paid $5000 for a custom VIN your decision.
