C4 gas pedal change

On my 1985 C4. the pin that holds the gas pedal and spring isn't budging. On the left side of the gas pedal the pin has what looks like a washer. On the opposite side, the pin has kind of an acorn nut
one suggestion was to use a small c clamp on the left and a small socket on the right and press the pin out
Since changing the brake and clutch pedal pads to Dorman pads which look and perform great, I thought Id use a Dorman gas pedal .

No video Ive seen has a pin exactly like the one on my car. I could try drilling, but theres not much space and plenty of room for error.
I may just leave the stock gas pedal and find a nice way to cover it

Sometimes, leaving well enough alone, is the best solution. Sort of like the old "if it works, don't fix it".
