C4 airflow mods

Has anyone out there done the air filter box cutout or mass airflow sensor screens removal to increase airflow and thence power? Curious if it is worth it

Did it on my '89 GTA. Trashed my MAF 3 weeks later and noticed absolutely no gains.

I did the Air filter holder cut out. Don't remember much gain.
