I'm about to do my first brake job on my 88 c4. it looks like there is a dust shield ok n each wheel. do i need to keep them?

Not really familiar with the C4 but is this a dust shield or a shield to deflect small stones from kicking up and lodging between the caliper and the rotor? Nothing like the sound of a piece of gravel grinding away as you drive... not really detrimental but irritating nonetheless.... I would say if it's factory, then leave it there.... they probably had a reason for it... JMO

I’ve done 88 brakes many times. Don’t recall any kind of shield. Very easy brake job though. I’d replace the pins and c clips on the fronts though. They get worn as there is no pin sliders on the front brakes
