Always hated the look of the engine bay with the ugly alternator sticking out like a sore thumb, so I bought an alternator cover in an attempt to make it look better.
After installing it ( a stainless steel version of a cover that was reasonably priced and wasn't held on by stupid velcro ) I started wondering about how hot the alternator
might get with the cover on. Went for a long drive with cover on and then off and checked temperature of alternator cover after each run. Without the cover the
temp was around 120 deg F , with the cover on the temp jumped to 160 deg F.
