A black eye for us all..................

Comments are interesting. Silly people doing silly things. It really does have a negative impact on car groups in general and in this case Corvette people.

There are no shortage of accident videos showing exactly the same 'bravado'. It doesn't help that a certain contingent of people expect such and the few fall prey to the group mentality. Wanna get my Z06 in a few days....and drive slow. I think if one had to ask what the most dangerous place is in a Vette, it's the spot between your foot and the gas pedal....if not being the space between the ears eheh.

Totally agree. This does no good at all for car enthusiasts and clubs all over. No respect for the public safety or public opinion. Can't believe he did this where he did and can't believe he didn't at least back out of it when he saw the SUV that close. Interesting that his licence plate is in full view on the video... I'm hoping that video falls into the right hands and although I'm not holding my breath, I would hope that at least some of the general public realize this is NOT the way responsible club members and corvette owners drive on city streets...

We have a name for that kind of person around our area. VILLAGE IDIOT. Daddy probably bought it for the driver. I read an article one time many years ago about accidents with the little English sports cars. Accidents peeked generally in the second half of the first year of ownership when the people "thought' that they knew how to drive the cars. NOT. With a lot of horsepower, most people really don't know how quickly a car can get away from them. As said above, there are lots of Youtube videos showing just that. Around here we have road courses, drag strips and some slalom racing on parking lots. There really isn't much excuse for being a village idiot.

I thought it was great!................... A great display of how to bring bad attention to the car enthusiast hobby as everyone on here is pretty much in agreement with. Pretty embarrassing to see.

Anyone actually think I thought it was great before reading the rest of my comment? :D

It looks like he lost it on the video then attempted to regain some camera dignity by doing something a 2 year old would have moral reservations about... tsk tsk...

I agree that is was a poor venue to do the smoke show.....but deep down...us men...being boys...enjoyed the show! Yes....it was dangerous and poorly thought out......but that red C5 sure cut some nice donuts! We can all remember leaving the highschool parking lot.....watching a 16 year old dump the clutch on an 84' Omni and applauding.....is this really any different? Boys will be boys.............

I was away at fire school when this happened. All of the car clubs around here are completely upset and have invited the police to attend the next few cruise nights.
BTW, that was a dealer plate on the car and the rumour is that the car was sold a couple of hours later. The police have issued a statement and are actively investigating. Might hear something in a week or two. If anything new comes up I'll update the thread

Just a quick update on this story.
The RNC have stated that if they cannot confirm who the driver was then the owner may face charges. Apparently the owner is not being very cooperative.
The police are still keeping an eye on all the gathering places with marked cars and a few that are not so easily noticed...
Thursday nights have gotten a little quieter lately

Sure, who hasn't been a little heavy on the throttle in their lives, but I always say there is a time and place for carelessness. This "person" seems to feel otherwise. And at their club event no less...................

At one of our local cruise nights, some guys can get a little squirrelly by times when leaving. The organizers, the Lions Club, are not impressed. Who needs police attention.
