Hey Pappajoe-- great to have you along. I have your buddy here: Steamer (Rob)......He'll also be glad to know you've found our site. A hearty welcome.

Colin here and I met you (along with Vets Vettes) last Saturday at your house and admired your black beauty with those wonderful chrome wheels.

We made it home fine in my '94 and she's now registered and ready to rock and roll.

An exhaust or mufflers will net you a few horsepower but will get you more noise if that's your wish. Be careful tho.....some exhausts have a nasty drone at some speeds and that you won't like.

Typically if you want more power you'll need to get headers, exhaust, mufflers and high flow catalytic converters to see sizable gain in power and rumble.

Colin.

Welcome to the forum from another C4 guy.
As Collin has said, you can make a bit more power and noise from your car with a change out of the exhaust. But sometimes that extra drone is not really what you were after. Lots of sound clips on the interweb to listen to, and may help you make up your mind. Talk to guys you meet up with as to what they have done. Myself, I am a bit of a purest, so what's on the car is good enough for me.
Again welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum Warren! Saw your car in the other thread (or at least the truck mounted luggage carrier). I have nothing new to add as Colin has pretty much summed it up. The only other item I would consider outside of an exhaust is a cold air intake but I am unfamiliar with product for the C4.

I have an L98, and just switched to a S/S Magnaflow cat back set up. Sounds great, but no big performance gain. To do that, as everyone else said, you would need to upgrade the full system, as well as your intake system to take full advatage. Welcome to the site.

Do you happen to have a sound clip by any chance Range?

Thanks,
Colin

Thank guys for the warm welcome!! Considering what most of you said i think i will leave my 94 vette stock. I have ordered several parts from corvette connection- is this the best place to get stuff or can you suggest another -- can't seem to find anyplace in canada

Hey Warren -- Corvette Central is where most of us shop. Their prices are competative and they give we Canadians free Shipping occasionally. They're also very good to deal with and appreciate our business.

Corvette Central • Corvette Parts

They also have the shiny wheels you have and for about $700 exchange I can get them. An excellent deal for such beautiful wheels.

BTW -- the stock '94 exhaust is a good one. It's low restriction and sounds pretty good too with a slight rumble. I'm also happy with mine and will leave it untouched.

Enjoy that Black beauty while we still have decent weather.

Colin.

I have pondered an exhaust change on my 87 and finally on the weekend heard the solution. Muffler eliminators. On the l98 it was surprisingly mild at normal throtltle due to the 3 cats but revved up sounded fantastic. I don't care about drone that's what stereos are for. I am 49 but with the mufflers off when i drive by I won't look at day over 43.

Would like to hear that sometime. The OEM exhaust is rather muted and could use a little 'tuneup'.

Three cats on your '87 -- no wonder it's muted. Not sure if my '94 has three or not tho. I'll have to look.

The drone won't come on all the exhausts either, but if you want real performance gains, you have to go with headers as well as cat-backs.

the cat-backs without the headers won't really give you anything but sound changes. I hear Magnaflow and Corsa make a good product with little drone.
