1980 seat bolster size

I will be installing new seat covers and I have measured mine, the seat bottom bolster is 4 inches and the back is 2 inchs. should both pieces be the same?

they should be the same size . You probably have been looking already and see that both sizes are available with different feedback as to which is better. I guess it depends on how big a guy you are as the 4" are more snug. I think in 80 the 2" was original . Your bottom was probably worn and the previous owner replaced it with the 4" my guess.
