I had the exact same thing happen to me with my Borla system. The issue was traced to one of the catalytic converters which was replaced and issue resolved. Dealer had no prob with replacing the cat.

You can purchase an AFM disabler that simply plugs into your obd port and it will deactivate the 8 to 4 cyl issue. Just Google the Range AFM DFM Disabler....
