It won't recharge the key fob battery but it is supposed to allow the car to start. What you are watching is another useless YouTube type video.

Place the key fob in the forward cup holder with the mechanical key end facing up. Both dash board arrangements are the same,,,,,20 to 25 and 26

The 2 optional ones have about a 1/2" drop down that push the nose out a bit.
