I have some to repair on my floor as was planning to rivit in some sheet aluminum bent to shape. Some RTV on it and then rivited into place should make a water tight repair.
Doesn't the tank have a plastic liner on the inside? That was my understanding anyway. If thats the case that would mean both surfaces have been compromised.
I should note that I'm from England and our tire choices are somewhat different.
275/40/17 is pretty common here but I had the choice of just 2 brands in the UK.
I ended up going with ZR1 style wheels just to move up to 17" tires - that and IMO they look better but even 17's now seem to have less choice than 18's
I wouldn't go down in section width if I could avoid it personally...
I don't think I can make this weekend but deffinately give me a shout when your looking for any future convoys - I'm over in Maple Ridge so not too far at all...
