You've probably all gotten an alert or email about a thread you've responded or subscribed to but what about when you want to bring a thread or post to the attention of one of your buddies who maybe isn't part of the discussion?
You could PM someone the thread but that's a multistep process involving copy/pasting the link into a new PM/conversation. Boring, takes too long
Don't fret, we have an easy solution to this. User tagging. Using it is dead simple, simply insert the @ followed by the first letter or two of the forum user name of your buddy. This should automatically bring up a drop down menu of all users sharing that name, select one (or hit enter to use the first) and that user is tagged.
The tagged user receives an Alert when they next login and if they've setup their alert preferences to dispatch an email, they'll also get an email saying that they've been tagged.
Try it out in any post...
