I took a razor blade scraper and LIGHTY scraped off the residue. Be careful not to gouge the surface!!!! I took some brake clean and wiped the surface between light scrapings. I did the same thing on the engine. Here is a pic with the gasket still stuck in place. </p><p></p><p><img src="http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o345/arethereanyusernamesavailable/Corvette/null_zps7e1b1a7b.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></p><p></p><p>Pull the old gaskets off and make sure the rubber comes with it. I cleaned the surface of the engine in the same way I cleaned the water pump. </p><p>On a side note, now would be a GREAT time to brake clean all the surfaces of the pulleys and the belt otherwise the belts could squeal.</p><p></p><p>Tomorrow, I'll finish with the reassembly.</p></blockquote><p></p>
